Potter's Pen
I'm currently making pots for an upcoming wood firing in Ligonier. That effort should wrap up in the next week or two. The bowls I'll be donating to the local Empty Bowls event have been made and will be bisque fired as soon as the weather cooperates as my kiln is fired outdoors. I'm looking forward to trying some new glaze combinations on those bowls.
Recent heel spur surgery had limited my mobility around the studio workshop. As a result, I missed the last Pittsburgh Potters Tour and the October firing of the Highlander wood kiln but look forward to the Deep Freeze firing and the Spring Tour...
The "selling season" has wrapped up for me and I will now be giving thought to which sales venues to pursue in 2025. I will do both the Mother of All Pottery Sales and the Pittsburgh Potters Tour next Spring in addition to continuing with a couple of local farmers markets. I enjoyed appearing at those markets in Mt. Lebanon, Bethel Park and Upper St. Clair this past year.

The 13th (and final) Firing of the "Buidheachas" Wood Kiln
The 13th firing of my "Buidheachas" wood kiln occurred on 29-30 September of 2023. The firing was done in two segments; a slow and easy pre-heat session on the 29th to dry out the kiln and lay bed of ash on the pots followed by an all-day session on the 30th. Here are a few images...

I'll be selling my pottery at the Mother of All Pottery Sales (Union Project) in May. I'll also be part of the April Pittsburgh Potters Tour. Check back later for more information on my local farmers market selling venues.
